"Worship" in Islamic terminology
has a vast meaning. It is called "Ibadah", which does not mean only to pray Namaz and chant
the name of God, but worship in it complete sense
mean to obey all the instructions of Allah which
includes doing good things and abstaining from
evil. For e.g. Quran says,
"Do not go even near
to adultery". (Al-Qur' an, 17:32).
Thus if a person abstains from adultery he is worshipping
Allah and he gets reward for it. Hence Pilgrimage,
Fasting, Charity all these acts includes worship. One
of the most important acts of worshiping is Namaz i.e."Salah" in
Arabic. Allah and has prescribed five Namaz as compulsory
for a Muslim men and women. (The women are excused
during her menstruating period). Here are some benefits
of Namaz.
"Recite what is sent of the Book by inspiration
(Quran) and establish regular Namaz for, Namaz restrains
from shameful and unjust deeds."
(Al-Qur' an, 29:45)
"Woe to the worshippers
who are neglectful of their prayers. Those who (want
but) to be seen (of men)."
(Al-Qur' an, 109:4,5)
O Ye who believe! Let not your wealth or your children
divert you from the remembrance of Allah.
(Al-Qur' an, 63:9)
The five Salah i.e. Namaz
is an expiation of sin through which Allah blots out
(annuls) evil deeds. (Bukhari 1:506)
The person in Salah is speaking privately to his
Lord.
(Bukhari 1:509)
Praying Salah in congregation is a reward equivalent
to praying alone twenty five times. (Bulug-al-Maram)
