Night of Qadr
It is a night of power. The Quran states the significance
of the night of Qadr.
1) The Quran was sent in the night of Qadr.
2) It is better then a thousand months
(i.e. worshipping
Allah in that night is better than worshipping Him
a thousand months).
3) The angels and the Ruh (archangel Gabreel) descend
by Allah's permission. (Al-Qur'an 97:1-5)
This night is in one of the odd nights of the last ten
nights of Ramzan.
(Al-Bukhari Vol. III:234)
Friday (Jumua)
This was the day when the universe came into existence.
It will be on this day that it shall end. The Jumua is
like an Eid for every Muslim. Allah explains in the Quran "O
you who believe! When the call (Azhan) is proclaimed
for the prayer on the day of Friday come to the
remembrance of Allah (Jamua's religions talk and
prayer and leave
off business, that is better for you if you did
but know. Then when the (Jumua) prayer is finished,
you may disperse
through the land, and seek the Bounty of Allah."
(Al-Qur'an 62:9,10)
The Day of Ashura (tenth
day of Muharram)
The Qureshi i.e. the tribe
of Mecca, used to fast on the day of Ashura in the Pre-Islamic
Ignorance period. Even the messenger of Allah (p.u.b.h.)
too, used to fast on that day. This continued even in
the early period of Prophet-hood till migration. Later,
when the fasting of the month of Ramzan was prescribed
he gave up fasting on the day of Ashura and it became
an optional fast. When the Prophet (p.u.b.h.) came to
Medina and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura.
He asked them about that, they replied "This
is a good day, the day on which Allah rescued Bani
Israil
from their enemy." So Musa (Moses) observed fast
on this day. The Prophet (p.u.b.h.) said, "we
have more claim over Musa than you," And he observed the
first and ordered the Muslim to observe fast on that
day.
